Montreal based tech-death metal band, BENEATH THE MASSACRE, have launched the track, "Black Tide," from their upcoming five song EP "Marée Noire", which will be released in North America on September 14. It will be available as a limited-edition red 7" record and on CD. Pre-orders are now available for each format, as well as for bundles including a brand new shirt design. Visit the Prosthetic webshop to reserve your copy now!The track listing of the EP is: The Casket You Sleep In Black Tide Drill Baby Drill Designed To Strangle Anomic "Marée Noire" was produced and mixed by Chris Donaldson, known for his work with Cryptopsy, and mastered by Alan Douches (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Converge). It features artwork by Felix Rancourt, who has done work for the band before, as well as Despised Icon, Neuraxis and more. Guitarist Chris Bradley commented on the release: "'Marée Noire' was written using a different approach than the preceding release. We wouldn't start the writing process from the same point. Some songs were more structured by melodies while others all started from drums pattern. I think it makes the songs stand out a little more." Vocalist Elliot Desgagnes added: "It's going to be two years since our last album and we had the idea of a short release while we keep writing for the next full length. We picked five songs to go on the EP and I feel like these are by far the best songs we've ever written. Nothing that different from our other releases but we're always getting a little closer to the sound we want. So we're all satisfied with the result and are looking forward to share it. "The tones are a little rawer and it helped a lot that Donaldson and Bradley already worked together in the past. We were all on the same page and everything went well in studio. I really like the EP format. It's easier lyrically to make connections between the songs and follow a thought pattern. We named the EP 'Marée Noire,' 'Black Tide,' in English, because I was writing lyrics on Absurdism, self fulfilled prophecy and corporations raping everything, when BP started to shit in the Gulf of Mexico." BENEATH THE MASSACRE will do a Canadian tour beginning in late August and wrapping up in early October, sponsored by JagerMusic Canada. They will be playing with Neuraxis, Ion Dissonance and others along the trek. Check out their dates below. |
